Postdoctoral Research Associates
Postdoc positions in protein design and engineering are immediately available at the Yang Zhang Lab, Department of Computational Medicine and Bioinformatics and Department of Biological Chemistry, University of Michigan Medical School. The project involves functional protein design and protein engineering. Candidates will develop computational and biochemical methods to design new protein sequences of novel biological functions (e.g. enzyme activity, ligand binding, and protein-protein interactions). Special attentions will be paid to designing new proteins targeting pathways of various diseases including cancer and obesity. Candidates with wet-lab experience in protein design and protein engineering, protein expression and binding assay, structural biology (X-ray crystallography, NMR), molecular biology, and/or computational biology are encouraged to apply. Skills in computational programming are not required but will be a plus. Excellent interpersonal skill with motivation and ability to lead an independent biochemistry laboratory is essential. Postdoctoral Positions in Structural Bioinformatics
Highly motivated and creative postdoctoral candidates are sought to work at the Yang Zhang Lab, Department of Computational Medicine and Bioinformatics, University of Michigan Medical School. Candidates, who are interested in protein folding and protein structure prediction, protein design, protein-protein interaction, and/or protein-ligand docking and drug screening, are encouraged to apply. We are particularly interested in developing new methods to integrate the state of the art structure prediction algorithms with Cryo-RM data for high-resolution protein structure determination. Focus of our lab is more on new and creative algorithm developments rather than application of existing methods. Skill in computational coding and creativity in scientific method design are critical to the projects.
